Day 3 – treatment and a drive to the coast

Another rainy day in the Tampa Bay Area. We went to the clinic for the treatment at 5 pm. Lo and behold the skies cleared as we were leaving. So we did some exploring, driving across beautiful causeways to Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, Sand Key, Indian Rocks Beach, etc. before returning to the hotel for dinner.

We had a surprise in Clearwater, stumbling upon the Scientology Headquarters. See video below of the visitors and ministry compounds (note only could put a still as my WordPress account level doesn’t support video).  See scalliondenning on instagram for the video.

We also stopped at Indian Rocks Beach and stuck our feet into the Gulf.

On a note regarding our mission, tomorrow morning we return for some tests to see how things are going, followed by an afternoon treatment and consultation.  The staff is very kind and clear that this is a process, we will get the numbers tomorrow and see if it is time to harvest or if some additional treatments will occur.  They encourage patience.  They will be checking numbers and adjusting until we get where we need to be.  So no absolutes on time line for this week, just sticking with the process and following through.

Love to all, ❤️❤️💗💗❤️❤️🌸🌺🌹🌷especially Mark and Kathy on their 24th anniversary tomorrow.

2 Down, 2 to Go

Second treatment this afternoon.  Low key day, nice dinner at Brio at the fancy Tampa mall.  Went by the music fest at the Raymond James football stadium – apparently the spectator look is fishnets and thongs.  It was special.  (Sorry, no pictures).

Instead, I give you a picture what’s going on at Moffitt.  We visit the 4th floor.

Update – pre-procedure

Just got a rundown on the processes to follow.  The port to be inserted is identical to the port Kathy had previously for dialysis, and will be located in the same general region as the previous port.  So the familiarity is a good thing.  The chemo and stem cell harvesting will be done via the port.  The port is likely to be in for about a month, as long as she is up here in Tampa.  The injections over the next week will be administered via needle in the abdominal section.

Hope to be leaving here around noon.E97A495C-B0B5-4FC9-B636-FED8F5017DEF

Day 3

We are at Moffitt Clinical center, having completed checkin and various biometric tests. Now in “the best room with a nice window” on 3rd floor awaiting start of radiology for central line placement, and line placement. Once this is finished, we will go back to hotel to rest, returning later this afternoon for an injection.

Will update when Kathy comes out of procedure.

Day 2

Travel day to Tampa, uneventful thankfully. Managed a free upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite by being pleasant to Nancy, the evening clerk. A good sign.

Busy day tomorrow. Will post details afterwards. Sleep well.

Day 1

Travel day, sights of RSW – cool fin hat! Where do I get one?

After a hard day of travel and work, catching up on RHONY. (Spoiler alert – new episode tonight).

Tomorrow afternoon we drive to Tampa.

Day 0

My suitcase is packed, sort of. Kathy tells me that while it will be warm in Florida, it could be cold in the air conditioned restaurants and movie theatres, and I should bring jeans and a jacket.

I remind myself that I have credit cards and I am not leaving civilization, so shopping for anything I forgot is certainly an option. I probably have 10 pounds of cosmetics packed, but of course not all that I want. I expect the weather will do exceptional things to my hair.

Texted with Kathy, she is excited for my arrival. The journey begins tomorrow.

Just have to stuff everything in my suitcase in the morning……
